Besides base salaries, commissions, penalties, and bonuses, you can configure exceptional commissions for employees to be calculated in salaries.

They can be applied to specific products, services, and categories. Please note that the ability to create, edit, and delete exceptional commissions is regulated by a special right in the role settings — "Can configure exceptional commissions for payroll calculation".

Exceptional commissions are exceptions to the basic commissions and have a priority. The prioritization hierarchy looks as follows: the rule from the service/product is of the highest priority, next is the rule from the service/product category, and then the rule from the employee profile.

Example 1. The "For creating a sale" rule of $10 is configured in the employee profile. An exceptional commission for a sold product is set to $15 in the product dialog window, and another exceptional commission of $20 is applied to the product category. In this case, the employee will receive $15 because the product has a higher priority.

Example 2. The "To the specialist for a service in the work order" rule of $20 is configured in the employee profile. An exceptional commission of 5% of the amount is set in the "Smartphone Repair" services category. In this case, the employee will receive 5% of the amount for all services from the Smartphone Repair category (not $20) because the category has a higher priority.

Please note that for exceptional commissions to function, a basic payroll calculating rule for the relevant event must be set up in the employee profile. Exceptional commissions can be applied to all "product/service" events in work orders and sales.

For example, you have set exceptional commissions in products but have not set the "For a product to a seller" rule in the employee profile. In this case, employees will not receive commissions for the products sold because the rules for the sales event have not been applied to them.

If you want to increase or decrease exceptional commissions for particular employees, or if you want some employees not to receive additional commissions, you need to set the relevant coefficients on the "Payroll rules" tab in the employee profiles.

How to create exceptional commissions

1. Products

Go to the General tab in the product dialog window. In the Employee commissions section, click Add a rule.

Set an exceptional commission. It can be a percentage of the amount/gross profit of the product or a fixed amount. Please note that if you specify both types, they will both be calculated instead of the standard commission.

2. Product category

Go to the product category. In the Employee exceptional commissions section, click Add a rule.

Important: the rule will only apply to products that are listed in this category or subcategory. For example, you have a category called Parts and a subcategory called Parts > Cameras. If you create a custom bonus for the Parts category, it will not apply to products that are in the Parts > Cameras category. That is, for subcategories, you need to create custom bonuses in them.

3. Service / Labor

Go to the service/labor. In the Exceptional employee commissions section, click Add a rule.

Set an exceptional commission. It can be a percentage of the service amount/gross profit or a fixed amount. Please note that if you specify both types, they will both be calculated instead of the standard commission.

4. Service/labor category

Go to the services/labor category. In the Exceptional employee commissions section, click Add a rule.

Important: the rule will only apply to services that are listed in this category or subcategory. For example, you have a category called Repair and a subcategory called Repair > Laptop repair. If you create a custom bonus for the Repair category, it will not be valid for products that are in the Repair > Laptop Repair category. That is, for subcategories, you need to create custom bonuses in them.
