Use of units of measurement

Products

The product form contains the “Unit of measurement” field, which is systemic and mandatory. The field cannot be deleted, but you can configure the ability to change this data after creating a new product. In addition, in the product form settings, you can move the field to the place you need in the product profile.

To set the default units of measurement for new products:

2. In the system field, select the desired unit of measurement.

Now, in the “Unit of measurement” field of each new product profile, this value will be selected by default.

You can apply units of quantity, length, weight, area, and volume to goods.

Important: units of measurement are used only for non-serialized products, since serialized products are unique and can only be measured in pieces.

If you activate serial accounting for an existing item that is not measured in “pieces”, its unit of measurement will automatically change to “pieces”.

Services and labors

You can apply units of time, area or quantity categories to services and labors.

The “Unit of measurement” selection field can be found in the service/labor window when creating it.

Please note: by default, the unit of measurement for services and labor is “pieces”. But once you set a different unit of measurement for either service or labor, the system will remember it for the next time you create a new service or labor. You can assign different units for future services or labors, and the system will save them individually.

Assets and bundles

Assets, like serialized products, always use the unit of measurement “pieces” because they are unique.

A bundle is a collection of products, services, and works, each of which may have different units of measurement. Because of this, sets are also measured exclusively in “pieces”.

How to change the list of measurement units in the company

If there are no options among the proposed units of measurement that you need, or if you use only a few and the available list seems too long, you can fix it.

For example, you work with jewelry and want to use carats as a unit of measurement. Or you sell fabrics and only use length units.

In this case, contact our support team, and our specialists will help you customize the right units of measurement for your needs.
