Close orders retroactively to correct mistakes and assign orders to the proper reporting period

Sometimes you may find errors in orders that were closed in previous reporting periods. Correcting these mistakes and re-closing the order in a new month could affect your reports. Or the last day of the month may fall on a weekend, causing an order completed in the previous month to be closed in the next one. But now this is no longer an issue — Orderry now allows you to close orders retroactively on the Business and Enterprise plans.

So it no longer matters when exactly you close an order — during closure, you can simply select the date you need. All you have to do is move the order to the appropriate status.

In Settings > Statuses > Orders, statuses in the Closed and Dropped off groups now have a new setting: Enable past close date.

When this option is enabled, moving an order to such a status will let you choose whether to close it with today’s date or set a past date (up to 99 days before the current date). Please note that the previous order status must belong to a different group. For example, if you’re setting a status from the Closed group, it must be preceded by a working status or one from the Dropped off group.

The order will then appear in reports according to the selected closure date. After that, the order will appear in reports according to the selected closure date. The order will also be reflected in the employee’s payroll calculation based on the chosen date, provided that payroll for that month has not yet been accrued. If that payroll period has already been closed, an adjustment will appear in the current month.

In the order itself, the closure event will show today’s date but will include a note indicating that a different closure date was set.

If you want to limit employees from using this feature, keep in mind that for each status, you can choose which roles can view orders in that status and which can set it.
