HIN Lookup Integration for Automatic Vessel Identification

Automatically identify vessel details by HIN to speed up order processing and reduce manual data entry.

Written by Hanna

We’ve added a new integration with HIN Lookup, a service that automatically decodes vessel information by its HIN (Hull Identification Number).

Once connected, Orderry can automatically identify and fill in vessel details such as:

  • manufacturer

  • model

  • modification

  • year of production

  • serial number

  • HIN type

  • state issued

This update is especially useful for marine service businesses that work with boats, yachts, jet skis, and other vessels and want to process orders faster with fewer manual actions.

How the Integration Works

After setting up the integration, employees simply need to enter the vessel’s HIN in a work order, estimate, or vessel profile.

Orderry will automatically request the data from HIN Lookup and fill in the mapped vessel fields.

This helps:

  • reduce manual entry;

  • avoid mistakes when filling vessel information;

  • speed up customer service and order creation;

  • keep vessel profiles more accurate and standardized.

How to Set Up the Integration

To connect HIN Lookup:

  1. Go to Settings > Integrations.

  2. Find HIN Lookup and click Configure.

  3. Select the vessel group for decoded data.

  4. Map HIN Lookup data to vessel profile fields.

  5. Activate the integration and save the settings.

After the setup is complete, vessel information will be filled automatically whenever a valid HIN is entered.

Who Can Benefit from This Integration

The HIN Lookup integration is especially helpful for:

  • boat and yacht repair shops;

  • marine service centers;

  • jet ski rental and repair businesses;

  • dealerships and vessel maintenance companies.

If your team regularly works with vessels, this integration can significantly simplify vessel identification and speed up document creation in Orderry.
