Continue Open Orders in a New Order
The Continue in New Order action is now available for open orders, not just closed ones. This makes it easy to move part of the work into a separate related order while keeping both orders linked.
Unlike duplicating an order, Continue in New Order creates a related order using the original order number with a suffix. For example, if your original order is A015, the new related order will be A015/1.
As before, this action does not create a full copy of the order or transfer products and services that have already been added.
This workflow is useful when you need to track work on the main asset and one of its components separately. Both orders remain linked, but each can have its own workflow, statuses, and progress.
Example
A customer brings in a car for repair under order A015. During the inspection, you discover that the engine needs to be removed and repaired separately.
Instead of managing everything in a single order, you can use Continue in New Order to create a related order, A015/1, for the engine repair. The original order continues tracking the vehicle, while the new order tracks the engine repair independently. Both orders remain connected, making it easy to follow the complete service history.
